Nov.14-30, Featured pipa artist in the world premiere production of The Monkey King at the San Francisco Opera, composed by Huang Ruo with a libretto by David Henry Hwang. This landmark production brought the classic Chinese epic Journey to the West to the operatic stage through an innovative fusion of Chinese and Western artistic traditions. My performance contributed to the integration of traditional Chinese instrumental practice within a contemporary operatic framework. The production received widespread critical acclaim, including a Critic’s Pick review from the New York Times, which highlighted the pipa’s role in the score and described my performance as “scene-stealing brilliance.”
